Nearly There

By Ian Clark

INTRODUCTION

Sarisbury is between Fareham and Southampton. The cricket club has 2 grounds. We've played at The Hollow for less than a decade; we moved when the first team outgrew The Green.

Our first team plays in the top division of the Hampshire County League. The Hampshire County League is the biggest league in the country with 333 teams in 20 divisions. It's the biggest league but it's not the best. For several seasons now our firsts have strived for promotion to the Southern League. The Southern League is an ECB Premier League and it's the highest standard of club cricket. It's where starlets and old pros and neutral umpires and all day games are and it's where we want to be.

This is my memory of our 2008 season.
