Match Report
The standard at the Rose Bowl has increased massively over the last couple of years. A team off myself, Tom C, Butters, Kieth, Big Mc and Pete/Simon should still compete.
Lost the first game, after being asked to field, Tom and Matt opened the bowling. Matt, after getting to grips with the amount the ball swings, bowled well, and Tom bowled very well indeed. Despite bowling the last over, he finished with nice figures of 1-30. Kieth bowled his usual stuff, really good nuts with the occasional short one, finishing 0-18. Pete eased into bowling after having sore ribs, bowled accurately for 1-35. Our indisipline with 29 wides, helped them get to 139-4. Our fielding was good, two run outs and we caught everything, 140 to win was doable.
Tom and Butters opened up. Getting off to a little slow start, Tom was run out for 5 going for a second! I came in and scored 25 in quick time and were still in control of the game. Unfortunately, we lost Dan (18), Pete (3) and Matty (6) in quick succession. It was left to Kieth and me to try and win it. We needed 60 from last 4 overs with me getting runout at the non strikers end for 31 and Kieth getting caught in the last over for 10. Lost by 45 runs was dissapointing as we had got ourselves into a winning position.
