Match Report

24 hours after their brave effort against their Sarisbury A team counterparts, Sarisbury U15B recorded their first win!

We started off in the field and things weren't looking too good from our perspective when Locksheath raced to 31 off 5 overs without loss and their batsmen were looking set against our openers, James Read and Ed Ruff. However, in the 6th over our first breakthrough came when the batsmen attempted a quick single to James Birt, who ran the batsman out at the keepers end. This was the moment the game began to swing in our favour, as 2 overs and just 8 runs later, Ed got 2 wickets in an over: 1 caught and bowled, and the other clean bowled. Dan Saunders and Harriet Ruff then came on to bowl. Dan got a wicket in his first over, another clean bowled. This was followed by Harri getting 2 wickets in the next over: the first was caught by James Birt (the key wicket) and the other caught by Cameron Pye. In the next over, new lad Will Jacobs did a good piece of fielding to run out their number 8. In the over that followed, Harri picked up her 3rd, clean bowled. Locksheath were in trouble at 59-8. Will and James Birt came on next. Will bowled 2 excellent maidens, 1 of them picking up our 9th wicket, again clean bowled. James finished it off by bowling their number 10. Locksheath all out for 63.

In the chase that followed, we never really looked like losing, despite 1 of their bowlers getting Cam, Harri and Matt Spicer out, all for less than double figures. However, Will and Tom Mitchell saw us home batting sensibly and ending on 24* (Will) and 11* (Tom) with the loss of just 3 wickets in 12 overs.

It was a great moment for the team to get their first win after all their hard work on Monday nights. It really showed how much of a difference hard work and practice can do.
