Match Report

Winning the toss is getting to be a habit, and we elected to bat, again. This time however Matt Reeves and I started brightly, running well between the wickets. We were going at 15 per over when Matt was out, and I retired in the 4th over, with Oz, playing as a last minute call up, being joined by Keith. Oz played well and retired but Keith struggled to lay bat on ball, and even started leaving it, and the run rate dropped. Robbo and Les sacrificed themselves in the search of quick runs trying to re-establish our run rate. It was left to Oz and myself to play the last 3 overs and we managed to get the score up to 157, our best so far, Oz scoring 32 and 55 not out for me.

This was surely going to be enough if we bowled well, and for the first time we did!!! Keith getting 2 wickets, Les and Robbo bowling a good line, and the highlight of the night was Reevesy, bowling away swing with good pace. 2 of the Muslims' players retired and were both returned to be in at the death, but good bowling and some exceptional fielding from the over 50s, (both hitting the stumps for run outs) meant that the opposition finished well short and we had won our first game of the season.

Good early batting and tight bowling showed what we could achieve, only 15 wides bowled was an all time low.
