Match Report

Well what a performance. On a beautiful sunny day (makes a change), finally won a toss at home, had no doubts about batting. Another new opening partnership, Sammy and Evo. It started encouragingly 27 coming up in the first 4 overs thanks to some wayward bowling. Then Evo got a really good delivery to go for 11, caught behind. In came Clinchy. This guy really is a machine. Despite playing a very un-clinch like shot first ball (wafting outside off stump), he batted superbly. Him and Sam put on 106 in 19 overs befroe Sam fell for a steady 28. I came and went after nailing one straight at point. Then came big Mc. He done what he has done all year. Hitting the ball cleanly to all parts of the ground. The two of them peppered the boundary with 4's and 6's. They put on 114 in ONLY 10 overs. Matty was bowled by a shooter for 70 from only 35 balls! Phil and Jason got out trying to push the score along. During all this, Clinchy had hit his 100 and he was finally out, run out, for a superb 140 (111 balls). The innings closed on 315-9 with Les playing a forward defence to the last ball of the innings???

So came our bowling. Les was accurate as ever, Sean bowled with good pace, although pretty erratic. Les got the first caught behind with the score on 22. Matty replaced Sean and got a wicket in his second over. Again caught behind (58-2). They then put on 100 in 19 overs, before Matty bowled the other opener for 60. Robbo bagged 2, including their skipper for an impressive 91. Jay got 3 wickets late on as we had a sniff of getting maximum points. It wasn't to be, they closed on 253-8 to win by 62 runs. It was a very good all round performance, on a brilliant wicket. We're going up!
