Match Report
Another toss lost however the opposing skipper obviously did not see the traffic signs on the track and put us in much to my shock!
Dulux was as emergency opener "pinch hitter" with PJ and began brightly putting away some cracking square cuts before playing on for 21. Sammy Floyd again played some cracking cover drives before falling to a mistimed pull for 17, PJ was joined by Reevsy and at drinks we were 90-2. Again Matt played a good innings before he went for 26 quickly followed by debutant Steve "John" Whitlam for 3. Macca made a swift 16 leaving us stuttering at around 150-5.
Ags and myself both contributed parterships with PJ and the run rate increased with PJ now seeing it like the proverbrial football. Myself and Radski were both run out with PJ on 99 for 13 and 0 respectively, it was quite comical. Thankfully Dan M managed to support PJ through to a "CHANCELESS" 100 that was a fantastic effort especially the way he accelerated in last 10 overs (well done mate) after being 16 not out at drinks. PJ carried his bat for 107* and we managed 251-8 at close probably 20 short (for the hollow road, and many getting starts but not going on) but good recovery.
After tea we were in a rut until drinks basically going through the motions something many teams are guilty of when they post a 250+ score. Macca taking first wicket and me getting useful no.3 just before drinks leaving them about same posistion that we had been in. The Longparish skipper opened and basically tried to smash everything before eventually being well caught by Macca for 45. Wickets started to come at regular intervals with Ags again bowling well (apart from his 3 looseners in 1st over), however Longparish were still up with run rate. Radski was recalled and his second spell eventaully helped see us home bowling with pace and lntelligence to end with 3-40. So Longparish dismissed for 195 and a 56 run victory.
Apart from outstanding batting by PJ and bowling from Radski a special mention to Tooley who despite not batting and only bowling 2 overs (wrong end and bad knees) encouraged everybody from start to finish with his non stop chat, an example to us all!!!!
Longparish will finish top 6 I'm sure, quite agricultural batting but 3 or 4 good bowlers so was a pleasing win, however as I said harder games to come.
