Match Report

The seconds made it 4 out of 4 with a comfortable 84 run win victory over a poor Liphook side.

Surprisingly put into bat on what looked like a road after Jason had lost another toss Sarisbury scored at a healthy rate bringing up the hundred for the loss of only Ozs (30) wicket in the 20th over. The innings was again built around a great 105 from PJ with all the top six batsmen getting into double figures. With good support from Sam, 31, Reeves 51 proving you can get runs with 'The Dog' and Steve (John) hitting a quick fire 29 Sarisbury racked up a huge total of 299 for the loss of 7 wickets. Obviously PJs 100 was the main feature of the innings with shots all round the ground but the running between the wickets by everyone should not go unmentioned constantly putting pressure on an increasingly demoralised fielding side.

Sometimes there is an argument for saying you can score too many runs and maybe this was the case. Liphook made no attempt to get anywhere near the total opting instead to accumulate batting points. This made wicket taking more difficult with few risks being taken as they fell further and further behind the rate. Good opening bowling again from Big Matt and Toolie at the start of the innings picking up a wicket a piece before the spinners got going. Dave Agar bowling through his ten overs ending with 2-49 well supported by Jason 0-26, who really should bowl himself more, and Danny OC 3-50 ensured that Liphook, despite some late hitting in vain, got nowhere near the total ending on 215-7.

Despite Sam getting 2 catches along with 1 from Matt and a stumping from Dan again too many catches were spilled and if the 2s are to challenge this season then this is an area that will need to be tightened up on particularly against the better sides. However this should not detract from another fine win. Well done!!
