Match Report

A strange day on the green. No batting collapses; no stuttering run chases, no gloomy contemplation of retirement just a comfortable win secured with little fuss or bother.

Colden Common had a slow opening 50 stand that set the tone for the innings. Solid but limited play with the usual disciplined thirds bowling chipping away. Colden finished on 144-9. Les was probably the pick of the bowling ( 1 wicket) but Robbo (2) ; Senior (3) ; Fras (1) and Chris all bowled tidily. Les and Robbie contributed an excellent run out that was out of the keeping with the general level of fielding that is becoming unacceptably ponderous. Greg's keeping continues to improve and he took catches standing up to Les and Robbo; 1 off an inside egde and 1 down the legside.

Fras and Ian Farley then put on 90 in 20 overs for our first wicket. Fras played execeptionally well again for his 44 and is giving the thirds the flexibility of a genuine allrounder. Ian F just flowed on; punches to long on for a single; pulls for 4; pulls for 6...

and so for once the thirds could potter round the boundary; enjoying the late afternoon sun and wondering if we would win by 7 or 8 wickets.

Robbie came in biffed his way to a quick 20 and Ian F strolled on to 70 not out and it was all over with 10 overs to spare.

2 wins out of 2...what is going on?
