Match Report

We lost on Saturday by 14 runs to a strong Rowner 2nds side. The 4ths are not as strong this year ( no Les, Tom or Sean) so to nearly chase down 200+ against a good bowling side was a top effort.

After an early wicket we struggled and Rowner were 140+ - 1 at one stage with 14 overs to go. To keep them to 208-8 was excellent and Graham Read bowled exceptionally on his debut to take 2-24 aginst experienced batsmen with their eye in. He was well supported by Martin Lander who took 3-34.

The new turbo charged Colin got us off to a good start and his 44 was only curtailed because he walked on a stifled appeal. I then put on 68 with Hannah in 9 overs that left us needing 48 off 8 overs and the game in the balance. Hannah was then out for 19 and although everyone had a good go after that we fell just short. 10 points was a deserved return for a good all round effort.
