The 4ths kept up their fine run to beat Hollybank II, a win more comfortable than the final 39 run margin.
Again fielding four colts, Sarisbury won the toss and batted first on a Whiteley pitch with sometimes variable bounce. Ian Farley and Mike Garner opened and put on 55, Ian out for 38, picking out cover point. At this point Mike had just a single to his name and was the ultimate sheet anchor, Richard Azar scoring 23 before Mike was out for 11 with the score 108. After an early spate of wides and byes, the visitors' change bowlers were much tighter and Hannah Clark and Dom Hammond fell cheaply. Tom Farley and Ian Clark put on an invaluable and rapid 40 for the 6th wicket with some fantastic running between the wickets, Ian specialising in threes, just one boundary in his innings. Ian played on for a classy 43, and there was some late thrashing and unselfish running from the remaining batsmen to rack the Sarisbury score up to a better than par 180 off 41.5 overs.
The Hollybank reply started with 9 off Dom Hammond's opening over but he and opening partner Rob Carpenter picked up a wicket each to give us the edge, Rob finding a good length to follow up his previous day's colts' triumph with 1-18 from 5 overs, a spell notable for a brilliant low slip catch from Ian Clark. Mark Callow and Ian Clark slowed the scoring right down and wickets fell regularly. Mark exploited the low bounce at his end, his first 8 overs returning figures of 3-7 and he also picked up the last wicket (Hollybank's top scorer with 48) to finish with 4-18, Ian 3-12. With Tom Farley giving the ball plenty of air, he picked up the other wicket and Will Jacobs and Cameron Pye both beat the bat a few times in their spells. A last wicket stand of 36 gave the away side a third batting point but they never really looked like making the 181 needed.
