Match Report
The 4ths entered the final game of the season knowing victory would give us a 10th win of the season.
The opposition was composed of 3 senior players and 8 colts (some of whom made our colts look grown up) and won the toss and chose to bat.
Unfortunately for Purbrook that was the highlight of their day as Rob Carpenter took 3 wickets inside his 5 overs with 1 from myself to leave them in tatters at 8 for 4 at one point.
Will Jacobs replaced Rob and took a wicket with his first ball (an absolute gem) and then took another 2 before I took another.
A run out and a wicket from Dom Hammond's 4th ball via a superb catch by Richard Azar left Purbrook all out for 28.
The bowling and fielding from our youngsters was superb with Rob Carpenter taking 3 for 1 from 5 overs and Will Jacobs 3 for 6 from 4 overs. This was backed up by great catches from Tom Hopkins, Will and Dom.
Left with only 29 to win Mark Hansford and Stu Raddon completed the job within 6 overs to hand us victory by 10 wkts and take maximum points.
Mark ended on 21 and Stu 8 against an attack without any senior bowlers.
After the game had finished we agreed to play a 20/20 over game and again beat Purbrook , this time by 3 wkts after they had managed 81.
A great end to the season, especially for the youngsters who completely destroyed Purbrook with the ball, and praise should go here to Mike Garner for the way he has always given the youngsters the opportunity to bowl and bat inspite of it being league cricket.
A brilliant way for yours truly to bow out and with the youngsters doing it with the ball I wont be missed at all.
