Match Report
On an evening where summer slowly turned to winter, Sarisbury U15As put up a good show but lost by 28 runs as they batted in the gloom.
P&S won the toss and batted and despite some tight bowling from Will Jacobs in particular, they reached 71-0 after 10 overs. At this stage, with two crucial catches having gone down, we were looking down the barrel of a 170 score. However Tom Farley picked up one wicket and Ollie Challis two and with some good ground fielding and, to be fair, some fairly dilatory running between the wickets by the later P&S batsmen, we restricted the home side to 148-3. The most memorable moment in the innings was Ollie's head high full toss that was hooked for six!
Sam Floyd and Rob Clinch put on 28 for the first wicket and while Sam and Fraser Moon were going pretty well, we had an outside chance, but this was a very strong bowling attack that slowed the run rate. Sam retired for a real quality half century but Fraser was caught behind for 15. But not many sides will post 120 against last year's league champions and we reached that score for just 3 wickets down with Lewis Mitchard playing a fine fighting knock of 20 not out, Tom Hopkins (8) and Matt Spicer (5 not out) supporting in the last few overs.
Despite defeat, the performance promises much with us having good depth in both bowling and batting.
