Match Report
Played at Trojans Stoneham Lane ground this 40 overs per side, 8 per bowler, match produced at total of 532 runs, 344 to Trojans, and 188 to Sarisbury 'B'.
With the weather condition best described as sunny intervals Trojans won the toss and chose to bat, fielding probably the strongest batting line up we have faced all summer our host got off to a good start, with the batsmen regularly finding the boundary a break through was vital, this came in the 7th over, a fine catch by Jordan Waller at Mid-on off the bowling of Ian Street with the score on 54. Unfortunately for us the score was on 203 before the next wicket fell, Rob Carpenter the bowler, Ian Stewart taking a well judged catch 10 yards in from the mid-wicket boundary. Our three other bowlers also took a wicket each, Keith Hammond dismissed Trojans number 3 bat, who top scored with 102, with young Ed Ruff taking an absolutely stunning catch deep Mid-on, talk about 'coming down with snow on it'. Then Ed clean bowled another victim, and Stuart Bruce stumped the 5th batsman to lose his wicket, this time off Tom Farley's left arm spin. As mentioned earlier Trojans innings closed on 344 for 5, a fine display of batting to be honest, and I must say we never gave up in the field, which is a good positive to take from this match.
After tea, our main objective was to bat out the 40 overs, which I am happy to say we did in style, three of our batmen ended up with 26 runs each, Jordan, Dan Millward, and Derek Bruce all ended up with the same score! The 'B's number 7 and 8 stole the show, with Keith batting superbly for 58 not out, and Ian Street also 'producing the goods' ending on 37 not out, a great effort by the both of them. We totaled 188 for 6 wickets, with Trojans running out winners by an extremely comfortable 156 runs.
