Match Report
This 40 overs, 8 per bowler, match was played at Rowner, it was close to being called off in the morning due to steady overnight rain and showers earlier on the Sunday, but the pitch was declared fit for play.
I won the toss and chose to bat thinking the pitch may cut up as the match progressed, but to be honest it did play quite well considering. To say our batting performance was a disappointment would be an understatement, with extras top scoring on 23, and only Graham Flower with a spirited 21, including five fours, and myself, 10, got into double figures. We ended on 69 all out after 28.1 overs.
After tea we played better as a team with our young side determined to get some wickets, we got 4 before our hosts passed our modest total, 2 for an impressive Will Jacobs, and one apiece for fellow colts George Kimber-Sweatman and Rob Clinch, Rob also took a well judged catch as did Mike Cooper and Keith Hammond, and Graham, doing a good job keeping wicket took a stumping, so we could take some positives from this match.
