Match Report

It's finally happened - we have played a match at the Hollow!

Cowplain batted first and got off to a good start. Mark Callow bowled a good line but found it hard going in the damp conditions and young Adam bowled some good balls but had trouble with his line. After 20 overs they were 105 for 2 looking at a score of 200. Greg used his bowlers well and Landers, young Floydy and Rob Carpenter started to get us back in it. Landers finished with at least 3 and then yours truly took three as well, even turning a couple. Final score for Cowplain 161. Good fielding from Floydy and especially Matt Reeves.

Mark Hansford and Reevsy opened up and were going along steadily until Mark missed one and was bowled. Floydy came in and gave the family something to watch. A 70 plus partnership with Matt put us in a good position. Blacky and Colin the cat Billson kept the score ticking over before yours truly and Young Adam with some lusty blows[Adam not me] saw us home with 4 overs to spare.

Special mention for young Ollie, one of our 13 year old colts who turned out for Cowplain and bowled his off breaks at the end, one for the future and in my opinion worth a 4th team place next week.

Big thanks to Mrs Lander for all her work on the teas. And to Colin for spending the morning preparing the wicket and cutting the outfield, pulling the gang mowers behind his car!! By the way Colin we need to do a bit to the wicket before Bob gets back! ;-)

All in all a good day, let's hope for good weather this week.

Andy O
