Match Report
This was the 4th match I'd watched over the weekend and from the scorer's chair this was an entertaining yet comfortable win. The Sunday friendlies have provided great opportunities for colts to play senior cricket this season and again four appeared as well as the young Martin Lander (not Landers).
The CHD side were amusing in their gallows humour once wickets started falling. They would have been happy to reach 100 at one time but the number 7 thrashed 45, helped in a sturdy last wicket partnership of 23 by Robbie's nephew, Mike Cooper (both were guesting for the visitors). Robbie himself hit one enormous six but, as we'll hear about for years to come, was bowled by Keith Hammond for 12. Keith's figures were a remarkable 4-5 off 6 overs. Tom Hopkins, bowling loopy medium pace spin type balls, took 3-6 late on helped by a stunning catch from Tim Cooper at mid on. CHD all out for 154.
After tea and Mrs Spicer's iced cake had been devoured, Sam Floyd did what Sam Floyd does best, hitting 14 fours to reach 80 before his Dad (80 on Saturday for the 2nds) willed him out from the sidelines. He and Matt Spicer had put on 59 for the 3rd wicket before he was bowled for 19 from the first ball after drinks, and Ian Black and Craig Raddon cleaned up the last 30 or so runs. 2 wickets for Mike Cooper, a future star who has only just taken up cricket!
A very gentle and friendly Sunday friendly, won by Sarisbury by 5 wickets.
