Match Report

My report should be as follows.

Sarisbury turned up Neil won the toss we batted first got to 104 all out with 8 overs left, Calmore got them with 30 overs to spare with 9 wickets left in hand.

Calmore played cricket we didn't.

However,

Despite this drubbing there are surprisingly some points we can take from the match.

Andy Evs opened and played about 12 overs facing about 35 deliveries and played and missed about 30 of them. It had nothing to do with a club members birthday bash in London on Friday night and the 5.30 am arrival in his bed. (wink)

Matt on the other hand was marginally better however, his eyes were not as bad as Andy's!!! Pissholes in the snow springs to mind (grin)

We batted poorly really although Calmore bowled decent lines it was not a 104 all out bowling performance. The pitch as their groundsman said was the worst they prepared this year due to a heavy soak during the week and as it was slow and a fair amount of bite from the seam made it a game where technique and patience were the order of the day.

However, as we know how most of our bats line up you just knew we were never going to post a decent total.

As for the bowling we did not bowl the right lines often enough to put their openers under any kind of pressure. Too often release balls were bowled and 1 bat in particular played a belligerent knock.

I understand he is a coach for Hampshire if so can I hope he coaches how to bat different to how he executes his shots!!!!

Saying that though it eased any fears Calmore had of chasing such a small total, and although he heaved across the line a lot he did have a good eye and more importantly he seleceted the RIGHT balls to hit.

Keith picked up the only wicket to fall with a decent caught and bowled chance but in reality Calmore wanted it and we didn't.

Congrats to Calmore and their skipper James who recalled Lester from an LBW decision which was very sporting and yet shocking as well.

Shocking because he never learnt to behave in such a sporting manner when learning his cricket at the green in his formative years (wink)
