Match Report
Under new captain Matt J, the stallions crushed a poor looking Hursley Park "A" at Fleming on Sunday. We batted first and the skipper and Bondy started with some excellent running which unsettled the fielders. There were also loads of wides which meant 10-12 an over almost from the off. Matt went caught fairley early but Bondy had fasted on to to some poor deliveries by now and Pete came in and both targeted the back wall and retired. Squidge was caught for a useful 18 and though Joe and Jewelly both went cheaply, Bondy (34) and Pete (40)returned to bring the final score up to 169.
Our bowling started a bit unevenly, with Phil Jewell looking utterly unplayable, 2 overs, 1 wkt, 2 runs! Unfortunately Joe's first 2 overs went for 24 (too many wides) but Hursley were already behind the asking rate as our fielding was really sharp. Pete and Matt now came on and Pete proceded to take 2 in 2 and ended with 4 for 24, all caught! As Hursley fell to pieces, the only batsman who looked any good, Scott Mills was determined to sell his wicket dearly. Joe came back and Mills, all alone by now, hit him for a couple of sixes before holing out for Matt's third catch of the game. A win by 78 runs! Get rid of the wides and this team look a formidable outfit!
