Match Report

Stallions very definitely demonstrated who the top team in the club is on Sunday at Fleming park. After their excellent performance against Trojans last week, Sharks were rather poor and deservedly lost 150 - 74.

The start was quite different however, Matt had elected to bat first and Keith's first over was good and tight, yielding 7 runs for the run out of Bondy. His second over started with Squidge being comprehensively yorked and Stallions were 20 for 2 after 13 balls. Matt and Joe then set about repairing things. Joe struggled to middle it but both men retired and Tom and Jewelly kept things going with sharp running which led to both of them being run out. Fraser bowled the most telegraphed slower ball you ever saw and Joe very deliberately plopped it into Ossie's hands at mid on. However this left Matt on his own and he continued to bat quite superbly. The final over was a great struggle between Keith and Matt. 13 runs and two dot balls represented a draw I think! A final total of of 150 looked too many however and the bowling figures were interesting. Sam Floyd, Sam Freemantle and Fras Moon conceded 13 runs an over, Keith went for just 9. The two youngsters both bowled some excellent deliveries, Sam was definitely quite quick and Fraz's first over conceded just 3 runs. However 46 extras were too many.

It didn't mean a thing however as the game was over in the 10th over, 2 run outs, one each for Tom and Jewelly and two wickets for Matty who was a definite man of the match, batting, bowling and very focused captaincy. In fact the Stallions were a much more focused team, their fielding very intense and some of the bowling quite superb, particularly Jewelly, as usual, and Tom who was generating great pace and very very late swing. Matt and Joe bowled too many wides but otherwise Stallions performance was quite outstanding. Of course I am biased but only Keith in the Sharks was as concentrated as the opposition.
