4th Team Captain's Report 2008

I would like to say a big thank you to Stuart Raddon, my Vice Captain, for his support on and off the field.

I suppose at the start of the season we would have thought 8th place was a good position for us to finish up, but with six games left we were in with a shout of a top 3 position, but this was not to be.

This year I felt that it was our middle order batting which let us down on many occasions, after a solid start. This year the batting honours go to Stuart Raddon, Ian Clark and of course not forgetting Mark Hansford's 97 in the first match (Oh! and I wonder who gave him out LBW! Sorry Mark but you were plum). On the other hand our Bowling was consistently good all season.

It was great to have two wise old heads in Mark Callow and Richard Azar to come on 1st Change as most weeks they would bowl twelve overs each for not many runs, proving that at this standard all you have to do is bowl line and length and the wickets will follow.

Again this year saw young Colts that are destined for a great future with Sarisbury, namely Fraser Moon, Ollie Challis, Will Jacobs, Tom Hopkins and Rob Carpenter.

The future is looking bright for Sarisbury Athletic Cricket Club as it just keeps going from strength to strength.
