Keith Hammond's Report

Before I talk about Sunday cricket I would just like to say what a fantastic season for the club it has been. Two teams promoted with the threes as champions. Steve Osgood and Paul Goodman deserve lots of praise, for their hard work over the season.

Because players were putting so much into league cricket this season Sunday cricket seemed to get effected. Players were not available as often as I would have hoped and the commitment in performances were not always there. This was not the case with all players. There were still lots of good performances.

On the batting front Shayne Freemantle, Simon Orr and Matt Journeaux with two, all made centuries plus some fifties. Matt with 184 against Zombies single-handedly got a very close draw. The batting that was very pleasing was 80s by two fifteen year olds. A swashbuckling 85 by Sean O'Toole and a more patient 80 by Graham Flower shows a lot of promise for the future.

The bowling was not as successful. We had many big totals to chase, which were unsuccessful on most occasions. Matt Journeaux bowled with great control if not lots of wickets. Jake Scott always bowled his heart out and deserved more wickets and Cheryl Parrott got the batsman thinking.

The big problem was we had very few competitive games. Zombies and DOE Cavaliers were great close games, but we could have done with more.

I would like to thank Roger Flower for umpiring and Penny Hammond for scoring. Also to Bob Joyce for once again organising a successful tour. For lots of reasons I will be standing down as captain, so I hope the club can find a new one.

Andy Dowland's Report

I just do not know where this season has gone. It has just wizzed by, maybe it's my age. However, it was great fun and we had some enjoyable games of cricket.

It was great to see some of the younger members of the club playing Sunday cricket. With good bowling from Rob Gibbens, Simon Grant and batting from Chris's 'O' & 'D'. There were also some fine performances in the field and one memorable catch by Andy Tosdevin in the last game against Bedhampton. This was after his father had suggested to me that father and son changed places.

I would like to give a big thank you to my wife, Elaine and Alex again for their support, scoring and helping with the teas, also to Bill, Sheila & Beryl for their help in this area.

Finally I would like to thank Oz and Paul Tosdevin for all their help and kindness throughout the season. Thank you once again to all the players and lastly our fantastic band of supporters that turn out every week. Let's also hope next years weather will be even kinder and we can enjoy another summer of good cricket.
